"Leadership Networks has assisted in the development of my leadership skills and taught me how to continually build upon them. The program has allowed me to network with great leaders and provided an opportunity to interact and learn from them. My eyes have been opened to what is going on in my community and increased my connectivity and awareness."

  • Robin McKay

"Developing leadership skills is a journey that includes understanding self and how your methods affect both the people you are trying to lead and those you collaborate with. The Leadership Networks program has helped me to grow and develop as a leader by providing me with information, opportunities to learn from successful leaders in our community, and an environment to practice and receive supportive feedback."
    Robin McKay,
    Energy Effects

  • Stacey Carmichael

"As a participant in the Leadership Networks program, I personally gained a lot - my confidence and skills flourished. The Leadership Networks program allowed the non profit sector to encourage the hearts of all the participants, who then went on to their organizations and sectors to do the same. The various community projects have also contributed to the non profits capacity as well. Red Deer and Central Alberta are truly better places because of this program."
    Stacey Carmichael,
    Safe Harbour Society

  • Kristina Oberg

"Leadership Networks is about finding the leader inside and bringing that forward. You are challenged to learn and practice leadership skills with the support of others on the journey with you. It has been a great experience."
    Kristina Oberg,
    City of Red Deer

  • George Berry

"The success of any business is directly dependent on commitment, training and drive. The Leadership Centre embraces these exact qualities. Making the commitment to the Leadership Centre is making a commitment to success. The tools and training that are provided right from the start are assets to any company, organization or individual."

Leadership Networks

Through Leadership Networks, emerging and established leaders are immersed in a leadership experience that goes beyond the simple acquisition of information, knowledge and skills. Learning is enhanced by “hands-on” activities and builds on resources that currently exist in Central Alberta by turning our “community” into the classroom.

The Leadership Networks program is not your typical leadership training program. What makes us unique?

  1. Quality Curriculum and Facilitators ~ Our presenters/facilitators are leaders in their field who share a passion for teaching and learning and the development of leaders within our community. The curriculum is current and responsive to the needs of each Networks group.
  2. Capacity Building ~ Leadership Networks builds capacity at an individual, organizational and community level. The skills and knowledge acquired through our learning days are put to the test by challenging participants to:
    1. Set monthly goals to reinforce and practices their new skills and knowledge
    2. Complete individual projects to stretch and hone their abilities on a personal level, organizational level as well as at a community level
    3. Work together as a team to complete a community initiative (what a great way to practice and apply skills learned throughout the program as well as give back to our community!)
  3. Community Based ~ We use our community as the classroom! The participants gain leadership skills and knowledge through interaction with and in our community. Using the community as a tool means that participants are exposed to the real issues faced by leaders in our region. Participants have the opportunity to learn from and network with some of Central Alberta’s foremost leaders.
  4. Participants ~ Each Leadership Networks class includes individuals from the private, public and not-for profit sectors offering a rich, diverse blend of perspectives as we explore various leadership theories and techniques.

Community Projects

Not-for profit agencies are invited to work with us to identify specific community projects for our participants. Agencies may submit an application (attached below) on a s specific project their agency would like to work on but just don’t have the time and/or man-power. Agencies work closely with their Leadership Networks team over a 7 month period.
